| | 20 JUL 2009: Jamaica’s 17th Reggae Sumfest this year is dedicated to Michael Jackson, and Sandal’s chairman Gordon 'Butch' Stewart will be providing his private jet to fly three of Jackson’s brothers, Tito, Randy and Jackie to the festival. Marlon and Jermaine may also join their brothers in Jamaica said festival promoters. Because Air Jamaica doesn't fly out of Los Angeles the Sandals chairman stepped in and offered the Jackson family his plane. The Jackson brothers, along with mother Katherine Jackson and Michael Jackson's three children, will be special guests of the Jamaican government. They will stay at a seven-bedroom villa on Jamaica's north coast.
The family will be presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award for Michael Jackson by Summerfest Productions.
Michael Jackson performed in Jamaica in 1975 as a member of the Jackson 5. The group was the opening act for Bob Marley and the Wailers at the National Stadium in Kingston.
The original members of the Jackson 5 were Michael and Jermaine as lead singers, and Jackie, Marlon and Tito. Randy, the youngest brother in the family, replaced brother Jermaine when the group changed its name to The Jacksons in 1975.
Tito Jackson is set to perform on International Night II, Saturday July 25 alongside his brother Randy.
The 17th annual Reggae Sumfest will get underway Sunday night and will run through to Saturday, July 25.
